With the on-going competition between Google Inc. and Microsoft Corp, Google Inc. is about to launch its own Operating System that may help lower the cost of netbooks when prices are already pinching pockets.

Google Inc. mentioned it will launch its just announced operating system with zero price tag by later half of 2010. This strategy could put Microsoft Corp into a price war. Presently, Microsoft Windows has taken the biggest slice of almost 90% in the market of operation system. Microsoft will not take Goolge’s competition for lightly and it is about to launch its new version of Windows “Windows 7″ by october this year.

”Microsoft’s strategy is likely to be to compete on price,” said Brent Williams, an analyst with the Benchmark Co. “Now there’s a competitor with the muscle and the brand recognition. Google is that company.”

Google mentioned that though Crome OS, that is based on open source Linux, is being designed for all Personal Computers but will debut on netbooks. Generally netbooks sell for $289 to $430 today but prices are falling as new offerings flow in the market and wireless providers providing subsidies with the purchase of a plan.
